{not my china…but lovely all the same}
In the south, we take our social gatherings very seriously and the food they center around is just as important. Every good hostess must learn what it means to be gracious, to make your guests feel welcome and see to it that they have a wonderful time. I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t really have parties at my house because it’s small and cluttered and my toilet tank is missing a lid. Granted I can’t do anything about the square footage, but I am working on the clutter and a new toilet to boot. In the meantime, I’m beefing up on my hostess skills and recipes for some future occasion when I can have a small group of people over.
{hostess gowns….make your own!}
While I do want to have a little shindig at my place in the future, I don’t see myself donning a hostess gown. This little article of clothing might have gone out of style, but being a gracious host will always be in fashion. I’m a huge fan of Julia Reed’s book about her adventures as a hostess and all the delicious recipes that she shares. One lucky SBS reader is in luck because I have an extra copy and I’m giving it away!
