Maybe you've wondered what southern belle simple means? It isn't just a random combination of two concepts. In a way, southern belle simple is an oxymoron much like saying deafening silence or jumbo shrimp. That's why it's fitting to have a tag line that reads: utterly southern, elaborately simple. If calling something elaborately simple sounds strange to you, then you might not be southern. Because you see, down here, we work awfully hard to make things look so easy. We go to great lengths to create a certain effortlessness and I think it mostly works for us.
Southern belle simple isn't actually simple at all. It's really quite complicated. There is a delicious underlying complexity in all things southern whether pertaining to our history, our family trees (even the lopped off branches), or our family secrets.
From our family farms to our family feuds, we southerners know what is important, even when our judgements get clouded sometimes. We cling to our ancestors, retell their stories and hope that our grandchildren will retell our stories for years to come. We are fond of big talking, hard working, good eating, and sweet loving.
This blog is a celebration of all the things that are particularly southern as well as a few others. It is meant to be a daily dose of loveliness which leaves its readers feeling a little lighter, a little better. There's enough ugly out in the world...you won't find any of that here. Even when life feels chaotic, it's nice to know that there is a place where things are still simple.
I thank every one of you in advance for taking time to visit and am looking so forward to getting to know y'all better.
p.s. If you arrived at this blog feeling oh so down in the dumps and just need a little encouragement about how special you are, how much you are loved, or anything else along those lines, you might want to start here.
Official Disclosure:
I just wanted to mention something with regards to the FTC. I occasionally receive products for review that are given to me from manufacturers or sellers, so I can tell you how good or bad something is. I do not accept cash for items to review. My opinions are mine, and are not influenced by any other company. From time to time, folks are generous and donate items for me to give away on this blog. I would never take ownership of products that I am not responsible for or take products in trade for positive reviews. Here in the south, we have a saying "you're only as sick as your secrets" so I try to have as few secrets as possible. If you read this blog with any regularity, you probably know that I tell it like it is. I won't endorse anything unless I'd use it myself.
